Algonquin Park Re-opens Some Trails

A pair of trails in Algonquin Park have been reopened to the public.

Eastern Pines Backpacking Trail and Berm Lake Hiking Trail have both been opened after being closed to the public before of wildfires on July 21st.

While those two trails are now opened, a few that were also closed earlier in the month remain closed because of nearby forest fires including Bissett Road Ranger Cabin, Bissett Creek Road and Lost Coin Lake Ranger Cabin.

The reopening of trails in the area comes as a forest fire located near Achray is now being held by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and is no longer out of control.

Algonquin Park is currently under a fire ban as well as a fire restriction from the MNRF, meaning no open fires or barbeques that use wood or charcoal to burn.
