OPP Says Majority of Road Deaths were Preventable

Too many people continue to die on OPP patrolled roadways than need to. The OPP is releasing the data they have collected over the last ten years to show drivers how many deaths could have been prevented. The police us e this information to develop their plans of action to reduce road deaths, but the stats show that poor driving behaviour or driver error are the leading causes. The Big Four, alcohol or drug use, speeding, distracted driving and not wearing a seatbelt or helmet, are the causes of the majority of highway deaths. There are too many instances where there was more than one of these Big Four factors involved in a fatal crash.
