Community Care Access Centre Staff were on the picket lines in Bancroft yesterday. Staff members from both Haliburton and Bancroft were present. The strikers told the Moose that they have been picketing in Belleville and Haliburton already and will continue that rotation. At issue is wages. The Ontario Nurses Association, who represents the CCAC staff, say that they are not being treated equally when compared to nursing staff at other government institutions, ONA. Spokeswoman Margaret Dee says that other nurses are receiving increases of 1.4 percent each year for two years in recent agreements, but the CCAC staff is being offered non increases. There is word that the Ministry of Labour has ordered the two sides to resume talks.
