NewfStock Won’t Just be Celebrating Newfoundland Dogs, but all Dogs in Bancroft

Don’t let the name fool you, it’s an event that will celebrate everything about man’s best friend.

Newf Friends and Newfoundland Dog Rescue will be hosting NewfStock this weekend at Millennium Park. Sandra Nicholson, Founder New Friends Newfound Land Dog Rescue, says it’s not just an event to celebrate Newfoundland Dogs, but all dogs. “People from across Canada and throughout the United States come up to celebrate the Newfoundland breed and rescue and all things about dogs,” she says. The event is used as a fundraiser to help pay for medical bills, food and to care for the dogs under their care.

They’re a part of HART, which was formed in North Hastings in 1995 to help care for abused and abandoned dogs in the Bancroft area. Nicholson says when Newf Friends Newfoundland Dog Rescue started, they weren’t expecting to see much. “We thought that we’d see a few Newfs a year, and it turns out we’ve rescued almost 300 in the last 10 years,” she says.

The main event is on Saturday, but it kicks off on Friday with a swim day at Diamond Lake and it ends on Sunday with a photoshoot planned at Eagle’s Nest. Nicholson says they hope to get as many dogs as possible onto the platform for a group picture.

The events on Saturday will be held at Millennium Park. For a full event listing, go to NewfStock’s website.
