QHC proposes job cuts, service reductions for 2015/2016 fiscal year

Quinte Health Care announced Tuesday that it’s proposing job cuts and service reductions to balance the 2015/2016 budget.  The corporation says if the proposed changed are approved, a total of 39 people would be laid-off at hospitals in Bancroft, Belleville, Trenton and Picton.  Other proposed changes include: replacing some registered nurses with registered practical nurses and personal support workers, cutting jobs in administration and security as well as reducing beds in Belleville.  Last week, Northumberland-Quinte West MPP Lou Rinaldi announced $3.5 million to help QHC balance the budget.  The corporation has cut more than $20 million in spending over the past three years due to reduced government funding.
