The deceased and accused involved in the suspicious death that happened in Bancroft over the weekend have been named by Bancroft OPP.
42-year-old Timothy Gunter of Bancroft has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and breach of probation. He is being held in custody until his bailing hearing in Belleville on March 12th.
The 69-year-old man that was injured and later pronounced dead has been identified as Judson Gunter.
The investigation into the suspicious death began around 9 PM Sunday night when Bancroft OPP received a report about an assault happening at a home on Faraday Street in town. When they arrived at the scene they found Judson Gunter injured and after transporting him to the hospital he was pronounced dead.
The OPP’s Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit and a helicopter were brought in to find Timothy Gunter, who they found and detained around 4:30 AM Monday.
Bancroft OPP says their Crime Unit will continue the investigation into the suspicious death with help from the East Region’s Forensic Identification Services and under the direction of the OPP’s Criminal Investigation Branch.
