Hastings Highlands preparing to enter third phase of recovery plan

Starting on August 6th, Hastings Highlands will enter into the third phase of the municipality’s recovery plan.

That will start with the municipal office opening up to residents by appointment only and on certain weekdays. In the statement from the municipality, they did not state which weekdays those certain days are. This will be on-going until new protocols and procedures are in place.

Playground structures are now ready for use. Picnic shelters are not ready just yet, but the municipality says they will continue to follow the province’s lead. You can now use outdoor recreational spaces including baseball diamonds, soccer fields and outdoor rinks, but none of those spaces are available for rentals.

While public washrooms have not yet re-opened in Hastings Highlands, when it is safe to do so, they will be opened to the public. The municipality says proper safety measures also need to be put in place before they can re-open the washrooms to the public. This also goes for outdoor furniture, which has mostly been removed from outdoor spaces in the municipality.

The municipality is also working on a manual on protocols and procedures, which will be made available to staff in August and on request can be sent to residents as well.
