There is now one active case of COVID-19 between Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
Hastings-Prince Edward Public Health is reporting a new positive lab-confirmed case of the virus. Communications Coordinator Karen LaRose says an individual in Central Hastings contracted it through close contact with an individual who lives outside of the two Counties.
This is the first lab-confirmed case of the virus in August and the 45th overall case of the virus in the region. The last time Public Health reported a new case of the virus was July 30th, which was the first case in the region in over two months. That case was reported to be due to travel. Public Health reports that person has since recovered.
Since the pandemic began, Public Health 39 people have recovered from contracting the virus, with five people dying.
20,545 people have been swabbed for the coronavirus.
