Food for Home Program Sets Goal at $400,000

Hastings Prince Edward Learning Foundation has begun fundraising for the Food for Home program.

The program is looking for donations as they can’t do their regular fundraising this year. The Food for Home program aims to provide nutrition for the most marginalized and vulnerable students during non-school times like March or Christmas break. Their fundraising goal this year is $400,000.

Maribeth deSnoo, Executive Director of the HPE Learning Foundation, says it’s a great way to directly and confidentially support students. She says that by working with school staff, families have no additional hoops to jump through so that students get the support they need. She says that the program has generated many touching and emotional stories, and says that at some point in time, we all need some assistance. deSnoo says that donating to the program allows school staff to provide support at a family’s lowest moment.

To donate, deSnoo says to Give a call at 613-933-1170 EXT. 62205 to do a credit card transfer. She says you can also donate through the website through Canada Helps at the HPE Website. deSnoo says a cheque can also be mailed to the foundation’s location.
