While some projects Hastings County started have stalled, there are many still in progress in the North Hastings area.
In a recent Community and Human Services Committee report, an update was given on affordable housing projects underway in the county. Of the eight developments, two are in the North Hastings area.
The report says staff have begun work for a 10 unit supportive housing project that would mirror the Home for Good project in Belleville. An update on that will be presented at a future meeting.
In addition, Springdale Development is currently working on five new affordable housing units in Bancroft. These will be available in the summer of this year, according to the report.
The committee says it is continuing to work with local stakeholders to find more opportunities to create affordable housing. They say the average cost of developing a single unit of affordable housing costs around $167,000.
