Your taxes are going up if you own property in Bancroft, but not at the rate of inflation.
At 3.4 per cent, the levy increase is under the five percent rate of inflation. Town staff says homes that are assessed for around $200,000 will see an additional $88 increase in their bills. They add that this increase falls in line with the town’s goal of reducing its debt load while they continue to grow its tax base.
Along with the tax rate, a number of projects were funded, among them the first stage of the reconstruction of Hastings Street North, breaking ground on the new library and the 2022 municipal election. All of this was funded without taking on extra debt for the town.
