Bancroft residents will see a 5.22 per cent tax increase this year. Town council passed its budget last week.
A statement from the town says that the increase is largely driven by the town’s recent acquisition of the North Hastings Community Centre. The town says had it not been for costs linked to the arena building, the tax rate would have been 3.7 per cent.
The budget also included a donation to Little Blue Cabins, a group that’s trying to help the homeless, and a donation to the Back the Cat campaign, to bring a CT scanner to North Hastings Hospital.
