Two North Hastings educators are being recognized with the top award from their school board.
Bird’s Creek Public School’s Cairne Buchanan-Sobry and North Hastings High School’s Tracy Thrower have both been given the Inspiring Excellence Award. The Hastings & Prince Edward District School Board announced the winners Thursday.
Buchanan Sobry – or Mrs. B. to her students — is a primary teacher. Tracy Thrower is a veteran Grade 8 teacher.
The two teachers – plus four other educators from other regions of the board – will be feted at a ceremony at Centennial Secondary School in Belleville on May 4.
Board Director Katherine McIvor said the Inspiring Excellence awards “recognize employees who make significant contributions to student achievement and well-being through their commitment to, and leadership in, education.”
