Bancroft submits grant for accessible playground

Bancroft has submitted a grant application that, if successful, will lead to a new accessible playground at Riverside Park.

The town hopes to build a structure which would be accessible to kids with physical disabilities. The play area would also include a sensory wall. The existing swings at the park would remain on site.

Town clerk Jennifer Peplinski said the application to the Ontario Trillium Foundation requests $148,600 and she hopes to hear back by late September.

She says the town’s excited about the project and feels it will help champion “change for Bancroft and our region.”

“While there is a long way to go in terms of creating an accessible world, these are all steps in the right direction,” she adds.
