Hospice North Hastings to get more funding, more beds

Hospice North Hastings is receiving money from the province to expand.

Hastings-Lennox & Addington MPP Ric Bresee announced the Bancroft organization will receive one-time funding of $350,200 for more staffing and two new hospice beds.

Hospice North Hastings delivers care for those facing life-threatening illnesses, often at an advanced stage.

The province is also committing an extra $140,200 over the next two years to support existing hospice beds in Hastings County. That money will be split between Hospice North Hastings and Heart of Hastings Hospice in Centre Hastings. It’s for nursing, personal support and other services.

The money was announced Tuesday, as part of a province-wide investment of $147.4 million over three years so more Ontarians can gain access to “comfortable and dignified palliative care close to home.”
