Other homelessness services available as warming centre arrival waits

It’s still not clear when a mobile warming centre to support Bancroft’s unhoused will arrive in town.

The centre was originally scheduled to arrive by Dec. 15. It’s being provided by Hastings County, which is still working with a contractor that can drive it from Belleville.

Hastings County issued a media release late last week to encourage those facing emergency homeless situations to reach out to access other services that are available in the meantime.

People can call the local Community and Human Services office at 613-332-3410 or 1- 866-569-1941. Outside of business hours people can contact after-hours emergency services at 1-877-528-9514. Available services may include accommodations, transportation to available services, or outreach service referral.

The mobile warming centre will go up at 6 Cleak Ave. when it’s here.

Messages to Hastings County officials weren’t immediately returned.
