Warming centre arrival date still unknown

It’s still not clear when a warming centre will arrive in Bancroft to support the unhoused.

Hastings County is still making plans to transport the mobile unit from Belleville to its intended location, off Cleak Avenue.

The unit, which is being provided to the Town as part of a provincial Homelessness Prevention Program, was originally supposed to arrive on Dec. 15.

Hastings County’s Community and Human Services Department is in charge of the move. Community Services Director Deborah Headley said, in an email to MyBancroftNow, that “we continue to make the Bancroft Warming Centre a priority, however, do not have an update on its arrival in Bancroft.”

“There are some logistical pieces to the move at play which are outside our ability at Hastings County to control.”

“We are reliant on many partners to successfully move the unit.  We do anticipate and update in the very near future.”
