AGB’s 44!! online auction, mystery art grab this week

The Art Gallery of Bancroft is holding their 44!! fundraiser this week.

Board of directors chair Molly Moldovan said the fundraiser takes its name from the gallery’s 44 years of operation.

The fundraiser consists of two parts – the online auction and the mystery art grab.

The online auction is going on throughout this week, with 56 items available, including a gift certificate for Wildewood Gallery, tickets to a Tweed and Company production, and a professional artist’s easel.

Tickets for the mystery art grab are $85, with only 44 tickets and 44 artworks that have no artist names on the front.

The tickets will be drawn at random and ticketholders will get to choose from the pieces available.

Moldovan said the art grab is really interesting to watch.

“People are choosing artwork not based on the fact that they know who the artist is or it’s a friend of theirs, but because they’re genuinely attracted to the artwork,” she said.

There are only five tickets left for the art grab.

Tomorrow is the last chance to see the items for the auction and the art grab in-person at the gallery from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., before Saturday.

The fundraiser will end with a party on Saturday, when the online auction will close at 5:30 and the art grab draw will take place.

There is no cost to attend the party at the gallery, and Moldovan said it should be a lot of fun.

She said the 43!! fundraiser last year helped out the gallery a lot, and she hopes it’ll be successful again this year.
