Hastings County announces an addition to family physician recruitment program

An experienced doctor has joined the Bancroft Community Family Health Team and will soon start his practice.

Dr. Saad Mirza is a part of the Hastings County’s family physician recruitment program, the county announced on Thursday.

Mirza said in a news release that family medicine is about more than treating illness – it’s about building relationships over time, supporting  patients through life’s changes, and being a consistent presence in their care.

The family doctor adds he hopes to create a practice environment where patients feel comfortable, listened to, and confident in the care they receive. Dr. Mirza said from his first visit, Bancroft stood out as a community where people genuinely care for one another – a  community with deep roots and a strong sense of belonging.

Hastings County said Dr. Mirza practiced previously in Pakistan for many years before relocating to Canada and being certified through the Ministry of Health’s practice ready Ontario program. He started working in the community this month.

Warden Bob Mullin said Mirza’s extensive experience and steadfast commitment will provide lasting support to the residents of Bancroft in the years ahead.

The county says it has recruited 30 family doctors across municipalities and two full-time emergency doctors for the North Hastings Hospital in Bancroft through its physician recruitment program.
