Bancroft receives funding for waste water operations

Bancroft has received federal funding to look into how to run its waste water system more efficiently.

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities will be providing the town with $163,700 to hire someone to look into how the system is operated. Mayor Paul Jenkins says the goal is to see if the system can be more efficient, in order to avoid the need to expand it in the future and save the town money.

FCM says these funds will also help the town address issues around climate change.

This comes as the town is looking into potential infiltration into the waste water system. Although this funding can’t be put towards that, Jenkins says those investigating the plant will look at everything going into it, so it’s all part and parcel.

The funding will be spread across a two-year span. Bancroft is one of 72 Canadian communities to receive FCM funding this year.
