The Hastings & Prince Edward District School Board says it’s now on track to pass a balanced budget.
Earlier this spring, the board announced it was facing a multi-million-dollar budget shortfall. But a release from the board Tuesday, says its expenses now match its revenues.
The release says to achieve the balance, a number of “central” staff has been reduced. It also says the number of staff members in schools will continue to meet regulations and collective agreements. On special education, the board says “temporary funded staff” was “removed.”
The budget is not official yet. It was presented to a committee on Tuesday and will go to the board of trustees for final approval on June 19.
