Stewards of Bancroft Eagles Nest Park have high hopes for 2023

A volunteer group has sky-high hopes for a local park.

Members of the Stewards of Bancroft Eagles Nest Park shared their plans for 2023 with town council last week.

Dora Yateman and Steve Wilkins gave a delegation, in which they said the group hopes to work with the province and the Algonquin community to expand trails. They also want to install collection boxes, so the public can donate cash to the park.

The Stewards also hope to launch a series of 12 educational nature walks, which would take place up until October.

Bancroft Eagles Nest Park is owned by the town, but the Stewards, a volunteer non-profit group, maintains the park. It’s well known for its lookout spot that offers a scenic view of the town.

Mayor Paul Jenkins called the park a great “asset” for Bancroft and said he’s excited about the trail expansion.

More information on Bancroft Eagles Nest Park, including how to get involved as a volunteer, is available on the park’s website
