School is out for summer, but the United Way Hastings & Prince Edward is already preparing to help students for next year. Registration is open for its Backpacks for Success program.
The organization has 1,000 backpacks which it will distribute to families in need at a discounted cost. Families pay $12 for a backpack, which comes with grade appropriate supplies.
Registration can be done online at www.unitedwayhpe.ca/backpacks or by calling the United Way at 613-962-9531. Registration closes on Aug. 2.
The program is open for students from kindergarten to Grade 12.
Executive Director Brandi Hodge says, “we encourage families to register now, as there are limited quantities, and we hope to fill as many requests as possible.”
