Jersey Boys extended at Village Playhouse to end of August

The run of the Broadway musical Jersey Boys has been extended at the Bancroft Village Playhouse.

The production, presented by Tweed & Company Theatre, is now running until Aug 31, with six new shows.

Artistic and co-executive director Tim Porter says that while Jersey Boys was showing at the Marble Arts Centre in Tweed, all the tickets had sold out before the show even opened.

“We knew that if we only did the two weeks here in Bancroft, we would be sold out in a couple days and word-of-mouth is obviously huge on this show, everybody’s telling their friends,” he said. “So we expect that we’ll be able to sell those extra six shows that we have added at the end of the month.”

Porter said the first couple of shows at the playhouse in Bancroft have been a resounding success.

“Theatre is a shared experience and sitting in a room with 200 people and sharing a laugh and some applause and screaming for some great singing is unmatched,” he said.

Tickets are available on the Village Playhouse website.
