Carlow/Mayo library receiving $20,000 from LEAF Grant

The Carlow/Mayo Public Library is receiving $20,000 in funding from the LEAF Grant, part of The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group.

Library CEO Carrie McKenzie said the funding will go towards new technology for the library.

“When we did our application, we based it on the fact that we still don’t have cell service, our internet is a little bit sketchy, and we have a lot of patrons that come from cottages that don’t have internet,” McKenzie said.

McKenzie said they saw an outpouring of comments from community members on the need for the library’s services which they included on their application.

The funding will also be used to purchase new learning materials for children.

McKenzie added that the library has more creative fundraising planned for 2026.
