Stepping Stones Across The Shield

Returning to North Hastings for the 3rd year, the Countdown Public Art Project is excited to present Stepping Stones Across The Shield: a unique iteration of the project, focusing on deepening our work with local partners and communities, on-going since 2021. The Countdown Public Art Project is a province-wide arts initiative that creates outdoor monuments in public spaces to honour those affected by gender-based violence and to imagine, or count down to, a world without gender-based violence. In 2021, a large Countdown monument was built and installed in Millennium Park (Bancroft), and in 2022, another one was installed in Lookout Park (Combermere).

On June 16th, 2023, from 12pm-3pm, the Trust and Community Corridor of Inclusion & Resilience (CCIR) will co-host a workshop with the Countdown team, open to all Trust & CCIR members. In this workshop, participants will create small, individual pebble mosaics of their own which they can choose to keep, or donate to the Trust’s upcoming pollinator garden. There will also be guided storytelling activities, with the option to record stories and contribute them to the Countdown Digital Story.
