Hastings-Prince Edward Public Health is reporting a new lab-confirmed case of COVID-19, the first since May 18th.
“A local resident has tested positive for the virus after returning from travel,” Public Health says in a statement. “The individual is in self-isolation at home and all close contacts have been identified and assessed.”
No further information was given by Public Health on the positive case. They say this is to protect the identify of the person that has contracted the virus.
Public Health says that the case is related to travel and that local spread “has not been identified.”
This brings the total of positive lab-confirmed cases of the virus between Hastings and Prince Edward Counties to 44. Of those, 37 people have recovered and five people have died.
