Hastings County receives support to expand Amber Alerts

It’s not just the County that wants to see the Amber Alert system cover more emergencies.

The County passed a resolution back in June asking the province to develop a new warning system for when people with special needs leave their caregivers, leading to them putting themselves at risk.

The letter was in response to the recent death of Draven Graham. The 11-year-old died after walking away from his family home. Police discovered his body in the Lindsay area in early June.

The County has received 15 different letters of support from a variety of municipalities, including Hastings Highlands, Tweed, and Lennox and Addington County. The letter has also been sent to Premier Doug Ford, several district school boards, and the OPP.
