UPDATE: Marmora and Lake wildland fire ‘tentatively contained’

The latest update on the HALO 18 wildland fire burning in Marmora and Lake indicates that the fire is still holding in size at 12. 8 hectares but is now ‘tentatively contained’.

The municipality provided the update on Monday afternoon.

The Ministry of Natural Resources said earlier Monday there are three ministry crews on site fighting the fire, in the area of Copeway Lake.

The ministry said the use of water bombers assisted in managing the fire on the ground and they have a hose line around the fire, but the fire remains burning.

A statement from the municipality Monday afternoon said council extend their gratitude to Limerick and Wollaston Township Fire Services, who are working closely with Marmora and Lake Fire and Emergency Services to ensure the safety of personnel on the ground.
