A Take Back the Night march is happening in Bancroft on Thursday, Sept. 21, to raise awareness of sexual violence.
The walk starts from Millennium Park at 6 p.m. There’s no cost and it’s open to anyone.
Maggie’s Resource Centre of North Hastings and the Algonquin Inodewiziwin Centre are among the groups hosting the event.
Participants are encouraged to bring a flashlight and a yoga mat or chair as the event will also feature a yoga exercise from Tanya Mahar, who will show some breathing and meditation techniques.
Take Back the Night events have participants walk through their town as a group to show that all people should have the right to walk safely at night.
The hosts say that a concerning number of women worldwide are still victims of sexual or intimate partner violence and sexual violence also impacts men and the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
