North Hastings Hospital preparing for CT scanner’s arrival

North Hastings Hospital is getting ready to install a CT, or “Cat”, scanner, the very scanner the community has been raising funds for.

Quinte Health, the company that oversees the hospital, teased the arrival of the machine on social media Thursday.

The post asks people to “forgive the mess as we embark on renovations.”

It also explains that work is underway to move walls and make other structural upgrades to make room for the scanner.

The CT scanner has been the subject of North Hastings Fund Development Committee’s Back the Cat campaign. It launched in the spring with the goal of raising the final $300,000 needed in an overall $2.5-million campaign to purchase the scanner.

The Fund Development Committee’s Kim Bishop says donations are still being encouraged.

She says fundraising dollars are needed for, not just the purchase, but for ongoing construction and equipment needs.

It’s not clear exactly when the CT scanner will arrive and be in use. MyBancroftNow.com has reached out to Quinte Health to learn more.
