If you experience a fire, you can get “Saved By The Beep”; so long as your smoke alarm is working properly.
Bancroft Fire Department is promoting the Ontario-wide Saved By The Beep campaign, which encourages people to test and educate themselves about smoke alarms on Thursday, Sept. 28.
Deputy Fire Chief Matt Musclow explains the importance of the campaign.
“Last year there were 133 fire fatalities in the province, the most in 20 years,” he says. “As part of test your smoke alarm day, everyone is encouraged to learn more about smoke alarms, fire safety and home fire escape planning, which can save the lives of you and your loved ones.”
Musclow says Bancroft firefighters will be at some businesses in Bancroft on Thursday to answer questions about smoke alarms.
